Music Ministry - Our Music Ministry provides the musical leadership for Sunday Services and special Services. If you like to sing, please consider joining our choir. Please see the Organist if you would like to share of your musical talents and abilities.
Altar Guild - The work of the Altar Guild is to prepare the church for all Services, particularly the Altar, communion vessels and linens, as well as the Chancel flowers. This group also decorates the church for festivals in the Christian year, for weddings and funerals, and shares the weekly duties of preparing for the Eucharist and Baptisms. Contact the Parish Office if you would like to contribute to this ministry.
Eucharistic Ministers - The privilege of administering the chalice to communicants is assigned to parishioners by the Rector and Vestry under the authority of the Bishop. Individuals are nominated by the Rector in consultation with the Vestry and the license to perform this function is granted by the Bishop.
The Servers Guild - This group are committed and dedicated in service to God at His Altar. These people assist the Ministry Team throughout many aspects of the Liturgy during Sunday Services. If you would like more information about this group, or would like to be a part of this ministry, please speak with the Rector.
Sides People - The Sides People ensure that everyone on Sunday mornings receives a warm welcome, an order of service, bulletin, and other information as they enter our worship space. They provide assistance throughout the Service if required. Contact the Parish Office for more information about this ministry.
Lay Ministry – This ministry is assigned to parishioners by the Rector and Vestry under the authority of the Bishop and grants permission to be involved in any aspect of divine worship and ministry not required to be undertaken exclusively by the priest. Individuals are nominated by the Rector in consultation with the Vestry and the license to perform this function is granted by the Bishop.
Ways and Means Committee – This committee is dedicated to the organization of social and fundraising events for the Parish and wider community. For more information contact the chairperson – Fred Tulk or the Parish Office.
Anglican Church Women (ACW) – an organization through which all church women may be united in a fellowship of worship, learning and service, which will lead them to a fuller Christian service in the parish, community, diocese in the nation and the world. All women within the church are considered members of the ACW. Monthly meetings are scheduled as needed from September to June. Meetings are a time of fellowship and consist of opening prayer, dates for social gatherings, and plans for fund raising. Any women interested in being actively involved in this ministry can contact the parish office for more information.
Outreach - St. Mary's Waterford Hospital Outreach Program -The Parish of St. Mary the Virgin has historically been spiritually connected to the Waterford Hospital Community. The parish family of St. Mary's has re-established this outreach ministry and are providing a range of ministerial services to the staff, residents and clients of this institution. This ministry involves: A monthly service of fellowship in the format of a sing-a-long and prayers on the second Thursday of every month from 2-3 pm in the hospital Chapel; Other ministry services in the areas of pastoral and spiritual care, for example Holy Communion is offered; Regular ward visits by volunteers from St. Mary's who have had special orientation through the Waterford Pastoral Care Division; The volunteers participation in the Waterford Pastoral Care Division's activities, such as chapel services.
